To Burn or Not to Burn?
That is the burning question...
To excuse all of the puns; however, this seems to be a dead issue with me. There should be no one allowed to burn our Flag. The United States of America has great pride instilled in the flag. And yes, I feel that we should protect our flag.
I know that some will argue that burning the flag is protected under the constitution. Well, is fire speech? I know some of you will say that the "expression" is protected. Yes, it is protected; however, some law makers feel the same way as I. They tried to bring this issue to a vote. Some feel that this was a Republican ploy for votes. I am disgusted that some feel that this is a ploy to get votes. Hell no! The one's who feel strongly as I on this, feel that it should be protected by a constitutional amendment (legally). Make it legal and punishable.
I remember a time when the flag was a symbol of National pride in such a way that it was a carnal sin to allow the flag to touch the ground, let alone allow it to be burned! That was not too long ago people. Do we as a Nation no longer have National pride? I recall a Thanksgiving holiday, where the Holiday Flag (a very large flag, similar to those found at Car Dealerships) was bending a flag pole and we Marines moved with a purpose to stop the flag from touching the ground. Damn the flag pole, save the flag.
I have an idea...
-Gather up all the flags of countries that do not like America and maybe they are enemies or hostile towards us. Include some of the Middle East countries as well. We should not forget them.
-Get local permits allowing for a protest and a fire permit too...
-Get the local and national media involved (if you are able, if not the internet works).
-Burn all of those flags, one by one.
Let us see how they like it when we burn their flag. Some will say that we have offended them. Well DAMN IT, I am offended whenever anyone, regardless Domestic or foreign, burns OUR Flag. To hell with them all. Let us regain our National Pride, that is why other countries laugh at us and feel that we are soft.
That is my two-cents.
Thanks for listening.
